Patience In Da'wah

By

Ibn Abdillah As-sudaisiy Al-Iloori

It is a must to preach the Sunnah, it is a must to say the truth even if the persons affected are unhappy. To say the truth is not wickedness. To correct evil is not harmful. So, when they celebrate your absence because of your da'wah and advice, they are only celebrating their own ignorance. The next thing is for you to pray Allaah to open their minds to the truth.

However, it is also important that the one who calls to guidance does so with wisdom and gentleness. Da'wah should not always be done in a harsh manner, otherwise, a lot of people would be turned away. Don't expect that you will advise people today and they will accept the advise tomorrow. It needs patience and kind words. We should always give hope to those we are trying to call.

It is worrisome that some of us want to call people and expect instant result. This is impatience on the part of many du'aat today. Remember, some prophets (may Allah's peace be upon them)  would appear on the Day of Judgment without a single follower. Some would appear with one or two followers. Some would appear with persons between three to nine. Nuh عليه السلام called for 950 years, they didn't answer. He had to curse them at last. So, who are you to expect instant results in your da'wah? I was discussing with one of our shuyuukh on a relevant topic and he said, for us to achieve a lot in this da'wah, we have to equip ourselves with sound knowledge and good character.

May Allah rectify our affairs.
