PLACING ISLAAM FIRST IN ALL OUR AFFAIRS

By

Ibn 'Abdillah As-sudaisiy Al-Iloori

Today, a lot of Muslims are imitating the kuffar, doing anything they feel like doing without minding what the Qur'an and Sunnah say. It is the duty of every Muslim to always consider the position of Islaam on all matters before engaging in them. Islaam, unlike many other misguided faiths is a serious business that is comprehensively legislated upon by Allaah and His Messenger صلىالله عليه وسلم. Therefore, a Muslim is one who works in accordance with legal injunctions as contained in the shari'ah (Qur'an and Sunnah). Without considering the position of the shari'ah before embarking on any mission no matter how small, we would just continue to deceive ourselves. We would just be bearing Muslims merely by name. Some people would say: after all, I am praying and I don't cause harm on anyone. Yes, you may be praying. But Islaam is not just about praying five times a day. Islaam is not just about doing good to people.

We need to understand the fact that Islaam has many branches and a Muslim cannot just chose the one he likes and neglect other parts. The shari'ah has come to regulate our entire life in a perfect manner. We should be mindful of those things that can render our five daily prayers and good conduct useless. A real Muslim would not say: "that is how they do it here, let us join them, God is not wicked" He or she would try to verify the true position of Islaam first before doing anything. Yes, Allaah is not wicked, but there is no doubt about the fact that Allaah is harsh and severe in his punishments.

The entire Muslim world must be wary of the psychological weapon that is far more dangerous than weapons of mass destruction. The devilish efforts by the West to make us think the way they think in terms of beliefs and social way of life is working faster than expected because the Muslim are not mindful of their Islamic values anymore. Most of us are being carried away by the material things of this world. We all know and I still need to remind us that the enjoyments of this life is temporal. It doesn't last forever. It is just for the mean time. We all know the spoiler of enjoyments (death) can knock at anytime. So, why should we prefer the enjoyments of this life to the eternal bliss?

You always want to dress like the West, talk like West, act like the West, breath like the West, sing like the West, marry like the West, relate with people like the West, dream like Western, train children like the West and so on? If you leave all your life to western ways of life or civilization; it would be very hard for you not die upon western thoughts and ideologies, most which are against the shari'ah. The brains of some Muslims have been programmed to function against Islaam and its principles. It is a very serious virus that the West try to install in the memory of many youths today. Once it is installed, it destroys anything beneficial it meets therein and further prevents beneficial matters from gaining entrance.

I swear by Allaah, a lot of people are living with this virus in our society and they are even passing it to other people. It takes the special Grace of Allaah to format or exit the virus. That is why it is difficult to capture the attention of the infected people towards the path of Allaah and His Rosul صلىالله عليه وسم. No matter what you say to them in terms of verses of the Qur'an, hadith and statements of scholars; they will just be looking at you as if you are not a human being. They always want you to talk about the next event, music, shows, movies, football, games, illicit sex, dating, gossip blogs and many other distracting factors. You don't need an expert to know the infected persons; you will note it when they speak; the way they dress and their general dispositions. May Allaah سبحانه وتعالى cure all the diseases of our heart and count us among those who learn His words with keen interest and apply them in their activities.

As we strive to practice Islaam, the love of Allaah and His Messenger  ØµÙ„ىالله عليه وسم should be paramount in our minds. This is the only thing that would ensure that we place the deen first before any other interest. You cannot please your parents, relatives, friends and masters at the expense of the deen of Allaah. So, it is forbidden for anyone to mutilate or foist the real Islamic ruling on issues just to suit his desire or the desire of any other person no matter how highly placed in this world. I pray Allaah purifies our intention and grant us the ability to practice every bit of what we learn and preach.
