SOOTHSAYERS ARE LIARS

Sometime in 2012, while serving in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, I was at the Peace Mass Transit park in Kuje, Abuja, waiting for the bus going to Enugu to get enough passengers for take off when a man walked up to me and asked me to suspend the journey that the car will be involved in a ghastly autocrash that may cost me my life. Typically I rebuffed him sternly!

Eventually the journey commenced and about 1 hour after we started, somwhere after Abaji Area Council, the driver lost control and our car swerved into the bush. The driver fought with the wheels and, by a streak of luck (bi idhnillaah), the car stopped after hitting a log of wood. No one was hurt! The car got a little dent but we were just fine. We continued the journey and I got to my destination safely! 

In 2014, durring my MSc at University of Ibadan, I was at the Wazobia park, Gwagwalada waiting for the car going to Ibadan to fill up when a woman walked up to me saying she had a revelation that something terrible was going to happen. I also ignored her. Soon fight broke out between the touts at the pack and our supposed driver. He was beaten and his head clubbed with a stick. We couldn't find another driver so he still drove in that condition!

When we got to a point between Lokoja and Okene, Armed Robbers ran into the road and started to shoot. Our driver immediately went into reverse and thus we escaped in a commando style. The car behind us was robbed and a driver was killed durring the operation! 

I swear by Allaah in whose hands my soul is, if a fortune teller were to warn me about crossing a road, and I did, and got ran over by a car, I will call him a liar and  will still never believe in their tales or work with their suggestions!

"قل لن يصيبنا إلا ما كتب الله لنا هو مولانا، و على الله فليتوكل المؤمنون"

Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector). And in Allah let the believers put their trust. (Q 9:51)

" وإن يمسسك الله بضر فلا كاشف له  إلاّ هو، وإن يردك بخير فلا رادّ لفضله يصيب به من يشاء من عباده و هو الغفور الرحيم

"And if Allah touches you with an affliction, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His bounties. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful". (Q 10:107)
