"DOES IT MEAN OUR PARENTS AND ALFAS DIED ON WRONG PATH?"

On one of the posts I made on sufism and the need for Muslims to know the evils embedded in suufiyyah and run from them, a brother commented and I reasoned along with. I had faced the same scenario many times from bid'ah adherents. The brother said:

"A number of them (people upon bid'ah) need to know the truth and accept the fact that they are wrong. But they will ask you what about their parents (and Alfas who have gone), does that means their parents died on the wrong path. I do tell them 'No' their parents didn't know the truth, they were deceived. May be Allaah SWT will forgive them".

Me: May Allaah forgive them. Aameen. A verse of the Qur'an has even given an aswer to their question. But Allaah guides whomever He wishes. The people bid'ah will not yield to the path of Sunnah except by the mercy of Allaah. Allaah says: 

(تِلْكَ أُمَّةٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ ۖ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَلَكُمْ مَا كَسَبْتُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُسْأَلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ)

That was a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do. [Surat Al-Baqarah 134: Sahih International]

So, the way they make case and defend their forefathers and shuyuukh who had some issues in their 'aqeedah is dangerous. It shows that they give them a precious place in their deen beyond what the shari'ah stipulates and they worship them by following them blindly on wrong paths. Why should a Muslim be so much conscious of defending the people of the past and their errors, when he has the opportunity to pray for them, and turn a new leaf by embracing the Sunnah without any condition? Yet, we know that on the Day of Judgment, we would all be alone answering our own questions individually. Nobody would ask you about one Baba or one Alfa. What you would be ask is whether you follow the Sunnah or not? The genesis of blindfollowership is lack of knowledge and sincerity in the worship of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى.
