NULLIFIERS OF ISLAM -19

By
A. Haroun (Abu Imran)

SUMMARY

Alhamdulillaah, for over a month now we have been discussing some actions that the scholars have mentioned to be capable of nullifying a person's Islaam after having believed. We discussed ten in total and this is not an exhaustive list of all nullifiers, but ten of the gravest and most common. They include:

1. Associating partners with Allaah (Shirk)

2. Placing intermediaries (wasaait) between oneself and Allaah

3. Refusing to declare as disbelievers mushrikeen (polytheists); having doubts about their disbelief or considering their ways as valid

4. Belief that guidance of someone other than that of the prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is more perfect than his guidance or that the ruling of someone other than that of the prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is better than his rulings.

5. Hating any of the things the prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) came with even if you pratice it

6. To ridicule, scorn or make mockery of any aspect of Islaam.

7. Magic and sorcery; performing related actions or believing in it

8. Supporting the Polytheists and aiding them against muslims

9. Belief that some people are exempted from the dictates of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم)

10. Total disregard or turning away from the religion of Allaah; neither learning nor acting upon it.

NOTE:

There is no difference, as it concerns all the aforementioned nullifiers, between the al-Haazil (joker), al-Jaadd (the serious person) and al-Khaa’if (the one who fears) except al-Mukrah (the one who is under duress/coercion). This implies that doing them even if they were done as a form of joke does not count as an excuse, but he that is forced to commit any of them and his heart rejects what he is forced to do then he is excused.

Like I said earlier, all of these (nullifiers) are of the most dangerous matters and the most common in occurrence. Hence, a Muslim should be cautious about them and fear for himself lest he becomes guilty of falling into them. We seek refuge in Allaah from falling into any of them. We seek his protection from his anger and the severity of his punishment!
Aameen.

What will follow in shaa Allaah will be the conclusion. May Allaah spare our lives till then.
