FROM THE ANTICS OF SHAYTAAN

By
Ibn Abdillah As-sudaisiy Al-Iloori

"Shaitan knows if he misleads a scholar, the scholar would in turn mislead a lot of Muslims". Abu Naasir Ibrahim Abdulrauf حفظه الله mentioned this in his explanation of the Concept of Qadar as documented in the book 'Usul as-Sunnah' of Imam Ahmad ibn Hambal Ash-shaibaniy رحمه الله. In a relevant hadith, Thawban رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

(( إنما أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْأَئِمَّةَ الْمُضِلِّينَ))

"Indeed what I fear upon my Ummah is leaders (or scholars) who mislead people"

Such is the case of many Muslims today. A lot of Muslim enjoy taqleed (blind following) more than anything. Even if you give them numerous verses of the Qur'an and hadiths, they will still follow their "Alfa" wrongly. They would say: if it is not good, so and so wouldn't have done it? Whereas, the person they follow is neither a Companion nor a follower of the Companions. How has he become an authority in the Deen? This taqleed is predicated on the belief that their Alfas can't make mistakes. They think they are correct, even if their qiyas contradict the ijmaa' of the Companions رضي الله عنهم.

May Allah save us from this evil.
