MY PRE-TEEN SON AND MY PRE-TEEN DAUGHTER

The way our world is going, the Muslim community must always be observant and proactive in order to guide ourselves and our children in line with the dictates of our religion. The development in technology, the advent of the social media and now the AI sophistication has made it very easy for evils to be promoted and normalized. The main target of the promoters of "it is a free world" slogan are our children. They can be influenced through different means that we can't even envisage. Hence the need for us to keep guiding our children at every stage of their lives with inspiring lectures and exposure to beneficial books.

In this light, the efforts of our brother, Abu Imrān  and our sister, Dr. Khadijah Tijani on "Pubescence" and "Dear Damsel" respectively to guide our young adults is highly commendable. May Allāh reward them abundantly.

The books "My Pre-Teen Son" and "My Pre-Teen Daughter" are authored by our sister, Latifat AbdulMajeed-Isah (Ummu Khaleel) to prepare our children earlier enough for the challenges of our fast changing world. They are books containing practical guides on the spiritual and moral upbringing of our young boys and girls. The books were reviewed by Dr. Yusuf Ayipo and Ummu Abdirrahman Kifaayah Bukky and they wrote Forewords to them respectively. I also read the draft and I found it to be highly beneficial.

I have been approached by many parents who are afraid of the strange attitudes their preteen children are putting up in school and at home on the kind of books they can read to encourage to be religious and to shun evils in all ramifications. So, when As-sudaisiy Publications was approached by the author with this twin project, it was like a dream come true.

The author, Latifat AbdulMajeed-Isah (Ummu Khaleel) is a Common and Islamic Law lawyer. She holds a Masters in Information Technology Law and Data Protection Law from the University of Hertfordshire. She is currently pursuing a Conversion Masters degree in Psychology at the University of Wolverhampton. She currently lives in the UK serving as a Deputy Head of Mental Health and personal wellbeing at the National NHS Muslim Network.

May Allāh reward her and make these beneficial to readers in this world and the hereafter.
