SISTERS IN ISLAAM, DO NOT ATTACH FALSE HAIR IN THE NAME OF 'EID CELEBRATION

Sisters in Islaam, may Allah bless you all. Please don't use false hair and fake decorations during this sallah. It is against the teachings of the shari'ah. Don't let your children grow up with that negative mentality. Teach them how to look real and still beautiful.

When you see some children during 'Eid, you won't be able to recognise them quickly because of the loads placed on their heads (in the name of fashion) which makes it difficult or impossible for them to wear the hijab. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,

“May Allah curse women who wear false hair or arrange it for others, who tattoo or have themselves tattooed, who pluck facial hair or eyebrows or have them plucked, and women who separate their front teeth for beauty, altering what Allah has created.” [Sahih Bukhari]

As for women who wear hair-wigs, they themselves know they are not real. Why would someone want to look like what he or she is actually not? Allaah has given every human being the best kind of hair that suits him or her. But some people always want to look like someone else. Some people buy what they call "Brazilian hair" to make their hair longer, what a pity!

There are some men too whose hair are not naturally curled and they can do anything to make it look like that of a white man. No matter the kind of hair Allaah gives you, preserve it in a lawful way. Someone without curled hair should not feel inferior to people with naturally curled hair. And people with curled hair should not feel superior to those without curled hair. We are all equal before Allaah. The best of Allaah's creatures are the pious people, those who are always conscious of Allaah in all their dealings. (Q49:13)

So, discrimination in terms of colour, race, tribe, language and hair textures has no place in Islaam. Let everyone remain the way he or she is created and preserve the gift of nature in accordance with the shari'ah. Allah is just in His creations. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

"إذا كان لأحدكم شعر؛فليكرمه"

"If any of you have hair, let him or her beautify it" (Sunan Abu Daawud)

It is important to use this opportunity to appeal to sisters in hijab and niqab to always beautify their hairs for their husbands and other people who are permitted to see their beauty. This is a wonderful Sunnah. You should not hide under the fact that you cover your head or face in public and keep dirty hairs. Keep your hairs nice and plait good and alluring styles during this festive period and beyond. But make sure you do not add false hair it.

May Allah forgive our sins and make this easy for us to practice.
