UPON YOU IS THE BOOK 'BULUUGHUL MARAAM'

In his muqaddimah of Buluughul Maraam Min Adillatil Ahkaam, Ibn Hajar رحمه الله was full of confidence about the book when he said:

حررته تحريرا بالغا ليصير من يحفظه من بين أقرانه نابغا, ويستعين به الطالب المبتدي ,ولا يستغني عنه الراغب المنتهي

"I have made a meticulous compilation of it so that the one who memorizes it would excel among his peers. It may assist the beginner and the learned one may not be able to do away with it."

Some people might think it is self praise. No! Sometimes, you just have to say the truth even if it could be misunderstood by some people for reasons best known to them. Imam al-Barbahaaree رحمه الله also said something similar regarding his Sharh us Sunnah. When Sheikh Fawzaan حفظه الله got there, he said it is far from being self praise or boasting about the book, every aspect of Sharh us Sunnah is based on nothing but the Qur'an, Sunnah and the way of the Salaf.
