KNOWLEDGE FIRST

It is crucial fo us to know that our knowledge of Islam is more important than any other kind of knowledge because it relates to our essence of creation. Allah hasn't created us to come and play here. He created us for worship, and it is wajib for us to learn how to worship Him. If we can't learn our deen on full-time basis, let us strive to learn it on part-time basis. But we must make sure we learn it from the people of Sunnah. May Allah put barakah in the little we are able to learn and count us among the successful ones. It baffles the heart that  when one tries to explain true Islam (Sunnah) to even "highly educated" people, and yet they don't understand. But the statement of Allah on this is clear:

إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ

Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided. [Surat Al-Qasas 56, Sahih International]

According to Sheikh Mauhammad ibn 'Abdilwahhab in his Kitabu Taoheed, this verse was revealed to the Prophet صلىالله عليه وسلم when he was trying to convince his uncle, Abu Taalib to accept Islam, when he was about to die. He eventually died a kaafir. It was clear that even the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم does not have the power to guide whomever he wishes. Guidance is in Allah's Hand. All callers to Islam and authentic sunnah are only trying their best. The decree of Allah would prevail at the end. The worst of the ignorant people is he who does not know he doesn't know, because he would not make any effort towards learning. He would remain ignorant, dull and retarded.
