BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
By
Ibn Abdillah As-sudaisiy Al-Iloori
Note it very well once again that, birthday pleasantries, celebration etc. has no basis in Islam, it is imitation of the Kuffaar. Whoever wants to follow the truth, let him follow it. To quantify the blessings of Allah over us, we say this everyday after waking up:
الحمد لله الذي أحيانا بعد ما أماتنا وإليه النشور
"Praise be to Allah Who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him we shall return"
This is the sunnah and it is enough. It is not a yearly thing. We should say it every morning. Then, during the two eids, we should praise Allah and thank Him for sparing ourlives to witness them. Is that not enough. A lot of people don't say this dhikr as prescribed, but they put birthday in mind without basis in the Qur'an and sunnah. Some people can even fight you for not greeting them.
SubhanaLlaah! People are so religious about birthday these days and many homes hold it as such. If you don't greet someone close to you, it creates rancour. You will be hearing something like, "he doesn't even remember my birthday". "He didn't call me on my birthday ". "She didn't attend my birthday party". This is nothing but one of the lizard holes created by shaitan to mislead the believers, and everyone is entering it. The sad part is posting pictures of one another in recognition of birthday celebration. Even small small children, you post their pics. Even if you don't obey prophetic prohibition of taking animate pics, won't you fear the evil eyes? Is this the way to show love or what? Let's go and learn our religion properly before death finally knocks. People close to us are dying and we still don't take hints.
The problem many Muslims have today is that they are not content with the Sunnah, they just want to add something from themselves of innovations, they want to borrow from the kuffar. That is why, when the kuffar brings something and they are already used to it, they don't want to leave it even when it is clearly against the injunctions of Allah and His Rosul صلى الله عليه وسلم. And no one can be a real Muslim until he accepts the way of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Companions رضي الله عنهم on all matters, and afterwards does not grumble over it and he submits in a submissive way.
May lah guide us aright.
