LAILATUL QADR

Yesterday, I received an invitation to attend one Lailatul Qadr occasion this morning starting by 10 am. Innovations leads people to do anything they like even when they clearly  know what they are doing is unreasonable by all standard. How does 10 am become "Lail" (night)?

In the first place, the Rasul صلى الله عليه وسلم never celebrated "Lailatul Qadr" or gather his sohaabah for that purpose. The Sohaabah رضي الله عنهم too never did it that way. There is no principle of shari'ah that permit the Muslims to chose a particular day or night for celebration of Lailatul Qadr. What we know from the sunnah is that Allah deliberately made the actual night a secret so that the entire Muslim ummah can engage in serious acts of worship in the last ten nights of Ramadan.

Similarly, the search for Lailatul Qadr is a personal and individual exercise that can be done by engaging in 'itikaaf or 'ibaadaat in the corners of your room. Even if you must observe tahajjud in congregation, it must not be turned to a jamboree and money making avenue for the organizers as we see people do today.

May Allāh uplift the status of the sunnah and destroy every aspects of bidi'ah in our society.

COMING SOON IN SHA ALLĀH
