I had the rare privilege of sitting with elders and scholars like Sheikh Suleiman Fulani, Imam of VGC, Lagos, Sheikh Abu Labeebah Busari Ota, and Dr. Sulaiman Ogunmuyiwa (may Allāh preserve them) yesterday at a Marriage Seminar organised by the Muslim Singles and Married Media Initiative (MSMMI) at Old Secretariat Mosque, Ikeja Lagos, and I learnt a lot.
All the scholars spoke well on the institution of polygyny in Islam and how it can be practised according to the sharī'ah. There is virtually no area they mentioned that I did not discuss in the book "Polygyny with Mercy". This made me to keep thanking Allāh for writing that book. May Allāh not deny me and those who took part in the project the rewards in this world and the hereafter.
If not for polygyny, some people wouldn't have tasted life. Some people were born by a second, third or fourth wives. Some people are not from a polygynous homes, but their grand parents are from it. Polygyny is a blessing and not an evil. Both men and women must seek knowledge and fear Allāh in the practice of polygyny.
