INJUSTICE IN JUDGING PEOPLE'S STAND
By
Ibn Abdillah As-sudaisiy Al-Iloori
It is a form injustice to lump people together just because they are close or they are in the same group. It is possible for people to be in a group and yet have different fikrah (thought) or mawqif (stand) on a matter. Even scholars don't give blanket judgement on people of a Madhab (school of thought) because it is possible there are divisions within the same madhab. It is also hard to find a sect without sub divisions within it, and the ruling on these divisions might be different depending on the gravity of their deviations. It is wrong to say all Shi'as are Kuffār because some of them are not.
Recently, we invited a scholar for a lecture in our area and someone challenged one of us that why should we invite the Ustadh even when we know he belonged to a group. The person was accusing the Ustadh of many things he is not even guilty of. This is how people are being judged wrongly in our society without any concrete evidence. This is one of ways some people have turned Salafiyyah into politics overnight. They attack people's reputation based on who they associate with without an iota of investigation.
For instance, as all members of Haadha Bayan Linnas do not necessarily have the same view on all matters, it is not right to think all the members of Ad-deenu An-naseehah agree on all issues. I am close to some individual members of the two groups and I am sure they have divergent views on some issues. So, it is not right to assume that Ustadh A has a view on a matter just because he is a member of a markaz or mu'assasah. It is wrong to assume my opinion on a matter just because i am a friend of someone who has a similar view. You might be wrong.
I was happy when Imam Sanni Kay Yusuf called me about two years ago to ask for my opinion on those who abuse scholars, I didn't only clear myself, I gave him an audio of a khutbah I did specially about it. This is what we should be doing. We should not give room to hearsay. If you want to know the view of an Ustadh on a matter, the best thing is to approach him and hear directly from him.
Sadly, many have wronged their brothers on this basis and it is a big case in sight of Allāh.
May Allāh guide us all aright.
